Dean Eiland's Story-Texas Rider
I first heard of the Ride Extreme for Youth Extreme summer 2016 and I was hooked. I have ridden motor-powered vehicles, including motorcycles, if that’s what you could call them, since I was ten years old.
I enjoyed traveling the world as an engineer in my previous jobs, I have lived overseas and have been on mission trips to Central and South America. The thought of combining travel, missions and motorcycles appealed to me from day one.

I was raised in Midland, Texas a few miles outside of the city where we had some land, i.e. room to run. With my older brother, we would build two, three and four wheeled machines out of anything we could find and add a motor if at all possible. We probably escaped death numerous times with some of the contraptions that transported us at speeds my mother would never know.
The summer between my freshman and sophomore years in college, I rebuilt a Honda 65. I was proud of that machine because it got 125 MPG and, therefore, I could drive for miles on a quarter’s worth of gas. A few years later I bought a Honda CB750 with faring and all the extras. That year I didn’t have a car at school--just the Honda 750. The two-wheeled college adventure didn’t last long. The cold of winter and occasional 400 mile trip home from school was not conducive to two-wheeled transportation.
I dedicated my life to Christ and pledged to live a life worthy of his calling when I was 11 years old. Note: That’s not to say I’m perfect…but I am forgiven. I serve at Midway Church as a leader, teacher, and as time permits, musician. I am blessed to have a wife that loves me and two wonderful college age children. One at The University of North Texas and other at Texas Tech University.
I have been slow to commit to the ride for several reasons. First and foremost, I have questioned since last summer, whether God was calling me to take this ride. Secondly, am I physically able to handle ten days on a horse of a different color? Since that time I have been praying, looking at bikes, exercising, studying pain relievers and I am now ready to go.
Please pray that God will bless our efforts and allow Ride Extreme for Youth Extreme to build multiple sports complexes in Nicaragua.
Pray that these kids will see and witness the love of God through our ride and the continuing work of Avance Sport FCA and Familia Avance Nicaragua in their communities.
And please pray as to whether you should have a part in the lives of the youth of Nicaragua by contributing financially to this project.
