gary wilson's story-missouri rider
I first of all want to say how excited I am to be a part of the Ride Extreme team to help raise money to build sports complexes in Nicaragua to get at risk youth off the streets and the opportunity of a better life. Helping kids around the world is a true passion of my wife Lisa and I.
I have had the privilege to know missionaries to Nicaragua Brian and Rachel Weed for many years and consider them very dear friends. Our church (High Street - http://highstreet.org/ ) has also supported them financially on a monthly basis since 2000.
So when Brian approached me about this ride from Texas to Nicaragua my first thought was what in the world is Brian up to now, because I know Brian dreams big and has huge vision. But I also know Brian’s heart to reach the people of Nicaragua and to help the youth, so I had to listen to his story of how a bunch of crazy guys from Texas and Wisconsin were going to ride motorcycles to Nicaragua to raise money to build sports complexes. Then, when they arrive they will give the motorcycles to the non-profit they have set up in Nicaragua to use at the sports complexes and in different areas of ministry.
So when Brian said I would love for you to come with us I need some Missouri riders I felt God tell me to listen. It took a little while to work out the logistics but from the moment he mentioned this to me I felt I would be going. I was excited when God confirmed and opened the doors for me to be able to go with them.

We have chosen to build our sports complex in León, Nicaragua. León is the second largest city in Nicaragua with a population of 350,000. The complex will be connected to the Santuario Familiar Bautista Church. They partner the complexes with local churches so that there is always someone there to help the youth with their many needs they might have. Check out León's Facebook page here - https://www.facebook.com/santuarioleon?__mref=message_bubble .
I have been riding motorcycles since I was around 10 years old and got my motorcycle license on my 16th birthday and have had it ever since. I have ridden motorcycles pretty much off and on most of my life but have never taken a ride anywhere near this long. I did get to ride dirt bikes in Tanzania out with all the wild animals once which was a true highlight, but I am anticipating this experience just might top that.
