Thanks again for blogging. I am a rider too. I would love to know more about how the ride itself is going. How are these enduros doing at highway soeed with all the gear, the wight would affect mileage. No idea what kind of mileage those 650 motors get or how big the tanks are? Gas up every 90 minutes, or every x miles? I could ask a zillion questions. On day 1 I will hold up on just this. :). God bless yiu and keep yiu all safe!

Thanks Brian. In the interest of time here are some short answers. I am riding a 2016 Kawasaki KLR 650. Yesterday more than half of the time we were 70-75 mph. My bike handled it well. the crosswind would throw me 18" off of my riding line at times though. I get about 45 mpg. We've been filling up every 125-150 miles. Just need to get off of the bikes by then and regroup.

Here's an oddity for you. The extra weight doesn't faze me until I park. The KLR's have nice and beefy kickstands but the tend to park the bike about 5 degrees from vertical. Now, because the bike sits lower with the extra weight, it sits almost vertical when I get off. I tend to look for a bit of an incline to park on.
